TMS Therapy
Experience A Better Depression Treatment that is drug-free, non-invasive & FDA-approved

What Is TMS?

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy (TMS) is a highly effective treatment for major depression that was approved by the FDA in October 2008. TMS is a brain stimulation therapy that uses magnetic pulses, similar in strength to magnetic resonance imaging or MRI machines, to electrically stimulate nerve cells in small underactive regions of the brain that are thought to control mood in order to relieve symptoms of depression.

TMS therapy is noninvasive and does not use medication so patients don’t suffer the side effects that often accompany antidepressant medication, such as nausea, weight gain or memory loss.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) uses a targeted pulsed magnetic field,
similar to what is used in an MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) machine.

While the patient is awake and alert, Restore-Brian TMS Therapy
stimulates areas of the brain that are underactive in depression.

In-office treatment at Restore-Brain TMS Therapy takes 19-37 minutes and is
administered 5 days a week for approximately 4-6 weeks.

Here’s what you can expect from a Restore-Brain Advanced Therapy (TMS) session:

  • Before Treatment
  • During Treatment
  • After Treatment

Because TMS uses magnetic pulses, before beginning a treatment, patients are asked to remove any magnetic-sensitive objects (such as jewelry, credit cards). Patients are required to wear earplugs during treatment for their comfort and hearing protection, as TMS produces a loud clicking sound with each pulse, much like an MRI machine.

You’ll sit and recline comfortably in the treatment chair
A small, curved magnetic coil will be positioned lightly on your head

During the first TMS session, several measurements are made to ensure that the TMS coil will be properly positioned over the patient’s head. Once this is done, the TMS coil is suspended over the patient’s scalp.

NeuroStar delivers focused magnetic stimulation directly to the target areas of the brain
You’ll hear a clicking sound and feel a tapping sensation on your head

You can resume normal activities immediately
Because there are no effects on alertness or memory, you can drive yourself to and from treatment sessions
