Founder and Chief Medical Officer of MaxHealth, Acuity Brain Center and MaxFitness Board Certified in Family Medicine since 1996 Passions and specialties: Brain health, Innovating in family medicine Dr. Bullard is a native Texan, but used his education to see more of the country. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming before moving to Nebraska for his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Creighton University’s School of Medicine, and then completed his Family Practice Residency in Norfolk, Virginia. Driven to be a doctor and to excel from a very young age, Dr. Bullard was elected Class President of his medical school, served as a member of the Executive Committee, and received the national Upjohn Achievement Award for outstanding medical student. He then served as Chief Resident and received the Isadore Marman Award for Outstanding Resident of his program in Norfolk. Upon finishing his residency, Dr. Bullard returned to North Texas. He founded MaxHealth in 1998 with a passion to change the delivery of medicine. To demonstrate this, he built a team of providers who share his focus on continuous learning and a commitment to provide the latest and best care possible. He was also a pioneer in changing the old accepted norm of long wait times and impersonal medical care by structuring schedules that allowed both scheduled and walk-in appointments each day and offering patient-friendly hours. This concept was later coined “open access” and has become a standard in quality care. And after being featured in a 1998 Dallas-Fort Worth healthcare journal in recognition for his progressive thinking, Dr. Bullard hasn’t slowed down. He and his team have expanded from the traditional family practice service offerings to conveniently and proactively help patients shift their focus to wellness. Dr. Bullard is determined to have MaxHealth become a place where patients come not just to be treated, but to learn to become and stay healthy; he established Acuity Brain Center and MaxFitness to support that goal. With an eye on the patient experience, changes in healthcare and on using technology to deliver better care, Dr. Bullard has created two healthcare apps. Utilized by thousands of physicians across the country, AssessMD has become a standard evaluation tool. Since leaving AssessMD, Dr. Bullard has turned his attention to creating tools designed to assist in the care of patients as we move into the next generation of healthcare. His most recent cloud-based app, Vault, is the first tool of its kind–a patient engagement tool–that allows patients to take assessments, track symptoms and follow their progress using their mobile device and then electronically share that information with their providers. Dr. Bullard spends much of his time teaching throughout the country on topics ranging from the diagnosis and treatment of depression to hypertension management. Additionally, he is used as a consultant on healthcare delivery and the effective use of information technology in medical practices. Dr. Bullard has been honored by being voted a TopDoc of Ft. Worth and has been featured multiple times on the television show TopDocs of DFW. Dr. Bullard strives to practice what he preaches. He, his wife Molly, and their sons Max and Zak keep active with skiing, snowboarding, boating, wake-boarding, scuba diving, and hiking.
