TMS THERAPY

Experience A Better Depression Treatment That Is Drug-Free, Non-Invasive & FDA Approved

what is tms
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

TMS is primarily used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD), sometimes simply called depression.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy uses short pulses of magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain thought to control mood. It is sometimes referred to as rTMS which stands for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. TMS patients receiving TMS Therapy remain awake and alert during the procedure.

The short video to the right will give you a good understanding of what TMS is and how it might benefit you.

What Is TMS Therapy?

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. TMS is typically used when other depression treatments haven’t been effective.

The Magstim Horizon 3.0 TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) therapy system offers the latest in advanced TMS technology.  It enhances clinical workflows with navigated TMS and added layers of analytics.

TMS therapy was cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2008 for patients suffering from depression who have not achieved satisfactory improvement from prior antidepressant medications.

Restore Brain TMS Therapy is a short outpatient procedure, performed in one of our clinical offices under the supervision  of a psychiatrist.    During treatment, you remain awake and alert.  The typical initial course of treatment is about 20 minutes, depending on what the doctor determines is the correct protocol.  Treatment is typically on weekdays over a 4-6 week period.

  • Non-systemic, meaning that it is not taken by mouth and does not circulate in the bloodstream throughout the body.
  • FDA cleared for patients who have not benefited from prior antidepressant treatment.
